AAGarden

WHAT WE DO
AAGarden works through Social & Therapeutic Horticulture, local green spaces and place-based participation.
Our work begins with practical activity and real places: planting, tending, noticing seasonal change, walking, observing and returning to the same spaces over time.
We use these activities to create accessible ways for people to spend time outdoors, take part with others and become more familiar with the places around them.
Simple creative or digital methods may be used where they help people participate, reflect or continue an experience, but they support the work rather than define it.
Gardening, green space and participation.
Social & Therapeutic Horticulture
We design and deliver practical gardening programmes informed by Social & Therapeutic Horticulture.
Activities may include sowing, planting, transplanting, seasonal care, plant identification, seed sharing and other hands-on garden tasks.
The focus is not only on learning gardening skills. Practical activity can also create structure, shared attention and a low-pressure way to take part.
Green Space & Place
We work with gardens, parks and other local green spaces as places people can gradually become familiar with.
Activities may include repeated visits, walking, observation, plant identification, seasonal noticing and practical care.
We are interested in how a place moves from somewhere nearby to somewhere a person knows, uses and feels able to return to.
Digital Participation
We are also exploring lightweight digital tools that can support what happens between physical sessions.
These may help people record an activity, notice progress, return to something they have already done or discover another local place or activity.
